Research on monks who reportedly meditate on compassion has shown neurologic features and additional resesearch is being done at Stanford.  Yet this research on compassionate  mental contemplation may not be examining the compassion construct which is relational.

This is one of the few research papers that suggests compassion might be a spectral phenomenon.  Which is in keeping with the "Theory of Compassion Development".
