Burnout and "Compassion Fatigue"

Note: that we believe compassion is not the problem, rather it is care giver burnout or learning how to maintain self care while helping others. Read our paper on burnout - link below:
And the description of why the term "compassion fatigue" is a misnomer can be found in the compassion handbook.

The issue is that the term "compassion fatigue" has hit a chord of resonance with care givers.  In that respect, it is this resonance which needs to be given respect.  But the term "care giver burnout" is more accurate.  The links are provided as a source of information but not as credence to the term.
