This website is an expression of one of the main goals of the Compassion Information Institute which is to teach about compassion. How do we do that succesfully? This is a question that has yet to be explored in depth but the Institute has several projects aimed at this goal. Besides this website, these include "The Compassionate Journey", The Compassion Chronicles and a full semester course dedicated singularly to the study of compassion (see the papers the students generated).
The second goal of the Compassion Information Institute is to develop a more complete definition for the term compassion - which will help improve compassion research and teaching. Some progress has been made on this with the "Theory of Compassion Development", the "Assumptions" about the nature of compassion, and preliminary results from our compassion survey. This year we expect to complete a more detailed analysis of the survey results and report on how people define compassion.
